Entertainment Desk: Wife Sumaiya Afrin Varsha (30) has filed a case against actor Russell Miar (40) for beating him up for dowry before reaching the age of marriage. The case was registered at the Sabuj Bagh police station of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) last Saturday.

The OC of Sabuj Bagh Police Station said that the case was registered yesterday. On preliminary investigation we have found the allegations to be true. We are conducting operations to nab the accused.

In the statement of the case, the plaintiff mentioned that on March 16 of this year, I got married to the defendant Russell Mia according to Islamic Shariat. After marriage I give about 5 lac cash to the defendant at various times thinking about my future happiness. But not satisfied with that, the defendant's greed increased and he often demanded Rs 65 lakhs as dowry from me as he would make new movies. And if I don't pay the dowry, he threatened me that he will marry me again. When I expressed my inability to do this, they often started physically and mentally torturing me with the demand of dowry.

Sumaiya Afrin also said in the statement, "I continue to live a family by enduring the defendant's torture in the hope of future happiness." In this situation, last Thursday around 9 pm, the defendant demanded Tk 65 lakh from me for dowry. As I refused to do so, he beat me badly and injured me in different parts of my body. After my screams, the people around rescued me and treated me at Mugda Medical College Hospital.
