Jumbangla Desk: Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir's Dhaka University (DU) branch secretary SM Farhad's social welfare and research institute has sparked a lot of discussion and criticism on social media after revealing his position in Chhatra League. However, Farhad said that he is not related to BCL in any way.

He said this in a statement sent to journalists on Monday (September 23) at 3:30 pm. Moreover, he said that he was not associated with Chhatra League in any way.

Farhad said in the statement, "I (SM Farhad) have no involvement with any programs and activities of Social Welfare Institute Chhatra League." I have never given any CV to anyone for any position of Chhatra League. It is the decision of the concerned Chhatra League as to who will be placed in the committee of the department. Why am I being involved there… where I am not associated with the department Chhatra League in any way. We consider this a conspiracy to destroy the spirit of the anti-fascist movement.

Stating that the pictures spread with political persons are only debate-centric, he said, "When I was serving as the president of the debating club and the secretary of the department debating club, the pictures of the presence of political persons in various events are seen on social media. All of which were debate club events, not political events.

Incidentally, the identity of the Dhaka University camp secretary was published on Sunday. His name is SM Farhad. He is a resident student of DU Social Welfare and Research Institute for 2017-18 session and Kavi Jasim Uddin Hall. Farhad was the President of Jasim Uddin Hall Debating Club for the session 2022-23.

Apart from this, SM Farhad served as the former president of Chittagong Hill Tracts students' organization studying in Dhaka University.

After the political identity of Farhad's student camp came to the fore, another identity also came to the fore. That is, he is the Joint General Secretary of Dhaka University Social Welfare and Research Institute Branch Chhatra League announced in November 2022.
