Jumbangla Desk: The body of a young woman with both hands tied with henna dyed in Teesta River in Aditmari Upazila of Lalmonirhat has been identified. On Sunday (September 22), police recovered the body from the Teesta River in the Kutirpar Balur Dam area of Mahishkhochcha Union of the upazila.

The name of the deceased girl is Jyotsna Begum. She is a student of Zahar Ali School of Kharibari area of Dimla police station of Nilphamari district and a 2025 SSC candidate. On Monday (September 23), Aditmari police station officer-in-charge (OC) Mahmood Un Nabi confirmed the identity of the body.
According to police and family sources, Jyotsna Begum got married to Zahid Mia of Chapani area of the same district 19 days ago. After the marriage, Jyotsna came to her house to invite her cousin for her wedding. Then Jyotsna went missing on the afternoon of September 20. After much searching, the family members suspected that Jyotsna had run away with her son friend.
Meanwhile, four days after the disappearance, the body was washed away by the strong current of the Teesta river and got stuck in the Teesta middle pasture of Kutirpar Balur Dam area of Mahishkhochcha Union. Later the locals informed the police. Later, Aditmari police station recovered the body and sent it to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital morgue.
