Formation of 10 teams to combat dengue

Jumbangla Desk: 10 teams have been formed to implement, coordinate and closely supervise the mosquito eradication program to combat the outbreak of dengue disease this season.

On Monday (September 23) morning, the committees were formed in an emergency meeting of the local government department related to dealing with the dengue situation across the country, including Dhaka South and North City Corporation in the conference room of the ministry.

It is known that 4 teams will work in Dhaka South City Corporation and 3 teams will work in North City Corporation. A separate team has been formed for operations in Narayanganj, Gazipur and Chittagong City Corporation and other city corporation areas. Apart from this, another committee has been formed for the risky areas of Savar, Dohar, Tarab, Rupganj and other municipalities.

These committees have been headed by additional secretaries and joint-secretary level officers of the local government department.

The responsible officers of the formed teams will visit at least 3 dengue outbreak areas daily and monitor and supervise dengue disease prevention activities in coordination with the chief executive officers of the city corporation and municipality. They will regularly submit pictorial reports regarding the measures taken to combat the outbreak of dengue and the operations conducted to the data collection committee of the local government department.

In order to increase public awareness, the responsible officers of the committee will regularly disseminate reports on the measures taken to combat the dengue outbreak and operations on the website, mass media and social media.

The meeting discussed in detail about creating public awareness to protect citizens from dengue infection, destroying mosquito breeding grounds, conducting cleaning operations and implementing activities including larval and mosquito killing.

Local Government Department Secretary Abu Hena Morshed Zaman presided over the event. Apart from this, Additional Secretary of Local Government Department was present at the event.
