Kubi correspondent: With the mercury of hope, the integrated admission test began with 20 general, science and technology public universities on October 17, 21. Comilla University is losing students due to this integrated admission test group. According to university data, 1028 students are admitted to Comilla University every year. Even if the classes start on time, the departments have to continue teaching by leaving the seats vacant at the end of the year.

According to the inquiry, 1028 students were admitted in the 2022-23 session. However, almost 118 students had to be lost before the end of the year. Out of 118 students, 77 students are reported to have canceled their admissions Also, 41 students have not submitted their SSC and HSC original certificates within the stipulated time, said the registrar's office. Those concerned say that they too may have been admitted somewhere.

According to the registrar's office, 8 people in the mathematics, chemistry and computer science and engineering departments of the university; 7 people in pharmacy department; 6 in the Department of Anthropology, Archaeology, Mass Communication and Journalism; 4 people in Statistics and Accounting and Information Systems Department; 3 in the Department of Physics, English, Economics, ICT; 2 people in marketing department; 1 student each in Bengali, Public Administration and Economics departments canceled their admission.

On inquiry about non-submission of certificates, it can be seen that 8 people from chemistry department, 6 people from mathematics department, 4 people from Bengali, 4 people from anthropology, 3 people from statistics, 2 people from public administration, accounting and information system and marketing department, archeology, mass communication did not submit their certificates. And Journalism, Computer Science and Engineer, ICT, Management Education Department and English 1 student.

When asked about the reason for cancellation of admission and non-submission of certificates, university officials said that government universities have lost their identity due to integrated admission test. As the admission process continues throughout the year, students cannot make up their minds about which university they will study in. As a result, students move from one university to another. Kubi had to continue with the seat empty.

The students of Comilla University said that the universities have become regional universities due to the integrated admission test. It cannot be a university. A university is an environment where for a certain period of time people from all over the world will gather in one place, stay in one place, and there will be exchange and exchange of feelings between individuals. Here the conflict of mind with mind, knowledge with knowledge will create new knowledge. Old knowledge will be carefully analyzed, refined, expanded and changed. But these are getting lost in government universities due to integrated entrance exam. As a result students are failing to develop communication, culture, language, clothing and tolerant attitude.

A student named Jannatul Naim said that the main purpose of establishing universities is being disrupted by establishing universities in districts. The main task of establishing a university is to create skilled manpower. But if there are no competent teachers to teach the students of the universities that have been opened in the district, then attention should be paid to the development of the established universities.

Comilla University financial and administrative responsible professor Dr Mohammad Zakir Saeed Ullah thinks that the integrated admission test has not fulfilled the expectations. Rather, everything has become more complicated.

He also said, we are concerned about the vacant seats. But because of the cluster, the university is not able to take any decision on its own. This year not every year the seats are left vacant in the university. Those in charge of the group have to work on this.
When asked whether this problem can be solved by admitting additional students, he said, they should come after the meeting of the academy. But if the student does not leave, a complication will arise.

UGC member professor Dr. Tanjim Khan said that the university seat being vacant is an irreparable loss for the country and the nation. An investigation into the cluster irregularities is ongoing. The investigation is likely to conclude next week. We will take action only after the investigation is over. However, when asked if there is any option to compensate this loss, he said, "I could not say about the previous issue, but we will take immediate action to prevent this loss from happening in the future." He also said that there is no cluster system for government universities. Now a decision has to be made whether to have the cluster or not, or if there is an alternative.
