UNO-DCs cannot be presidents of educational institutions

Jumbangla Desk: The head of the organization will nominate the chairman of the management committee of schools and colleges run by trusts and other organizations. These educational institutions will be out of the scope of the recently issued notification of the Ministry of Education regarding the responsibility of the President of the Management Committee.

Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education issued a notification in this regard on Sunday.

In the notification, it is said that the Trust, Missionaries, Army, Navy, Air Force, Border Guard Bangladesh, District Administration, Upazila Administration, Collectorate, Police Line, Municipalities, City Corporations mentioned in Regulation 63 of the Regulations-2024 regarding the formation of Governing Body-Managing Committee. Educational institutions run by Zilla Parishad, Railways, Universities, Board of Education or any other organization or foundation shall be outside the ambit of Notification No. 183 dated 20 August.

That is, Divisional Commissioner-District Administrator and Upazila Nirbahi Officer and their nominees cannot be the president of these educational institutions.

Meanwhile, in a notification on August 20, the Ministry of Education ordered to give responsibility to the divisional commissioner-district administrator and upazila executive officer or their nominated candidates for the post of president of the governing body and managing committee of private educational institutions.

In the notification, it is also said that in the current situation, the post of the president of the governing body and managing committee of the private educational institution has been given as per 68 of the private 'Educational Governing Body and Managing Committee Regulations, 2024'.
