Kasba Upazila Executive Officer Muhammad Shahriar Muktar confirmed this information through a press release on Monday (September 23) evening.

Earlier on the same day in the afternoon, these fish were seized along with a pickup from the area called Adra of Binauti Union of the upazila.

At that time, the army arrested a person named Sarwar Alam (27), accused of trafficking. The arrested is the son of Shahid Bhuiya of Alam Adra village in Sarowar.


It is known that on Monday afternoon, a team of the army raided the village of Adra in Binauti Union of the upazila while taking a pick-up for smuggling to India. Captain Saniul Alam of Bangladesh Army 12 Bir led the operation.

Capt. Saniul Alam said, the loaded pickup was seized after a tip-off that hilsa was being transported in the pickup for smuggling. Later the trafficker was found and arrested.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Muhammad Shahriar Muktar said that the army conducted an operation on secret information and seized 1,500 kg of hilsa fish, a pickup van and arrested one person. A case is pending in this regard.
