10 special teams of the government will work against dengue

Jumbangla Desk: 10 teams have been formed to implement, coordinate and closely supervise the mosquito eradication program to combat the dengue outbreak this season. Among them, four teams will work for dengue control in Dhaka South City Corporation and three teams will work in North City Corporation.

On Monday (September 23) in the conference room of the Ministry of Local Government at the secretariat, the committees were formed in an emergency meeting of the local government department regarding dealing with dengue situation across the country including Dhaka South and North City Corporation.

Apart from the seven teams formed for the two city corporations of Dhaka, a separate team has been formed for other city corporation areas including Narayanganj, Gazipur and Chittagong City Corporation.

Besides, another committee has been formed for the vulnerable areas of Savar, Dohar, Tarab, Rupganj and other municipalities. And overall, a 7-member committee has been formed to coordinate and collect data to deal with the dengue outbreak.

These committees have been headed by additional secretaries and joint-secretary level officers of the local government department.

The responsible officers of the formed teams will visit at least 3 dengue outbreak areas daily and monitor and supervise dengue disease prevention activities in coordination with the chief executive officers of the city corporation and municipality. They will regularly submit pictorial reports regarding the measures taken to combat the outbreak of dengue and the operations conducted to the data collection committee of the local government department.

In order to increase public awareness, the responsible officers of the committee will regularly disseminate reports on the measures taken to combat the dengue outbreak and operations on the website, mass media and social media.

The meeting discussed in detail about creating public awareness to protect citizens from dengue infection, destroying mosquito breeding grounds, conducting cleaning operations and implementing activities including larval and mosquito killing.
