In 2020, the global hospitality sector collapsed overnight due to the outbreak of the pandemic shortly after the hotel opened. But won the top spot in the World's 50 Best Hotels in just four years. The 101-room Kapela Bangkok is located on the banks of the Chao Phraya River.

Josephine PNG, the hotel's director of marketing, says her favorite spot here is “the riverside terrace under the trees. The place is completely silent during the day, but comes alive at night when the ferries go by.
