Ahead of the Chennai Test, the M Chidambaram Stadium pitch was a hot topic. There were several questions about whether it would be a red clay pitch brought from Mumbai or whether it would be played on its own black clay pitch. Finally, the game was played on a red clay pitch. This decision is to give some advantage to the Pacers. India also got the benefit of that.

Bangladesh in the second test

India restricted Bangladesh to 149 runs in the first innings. Also, the spin attack of Bangladesh was completely inactive on that pitch of red clay. The next Test is in Kanpur. There is now the last minute pitch preparation going on.

It is heard that India wants to stop Bangladesh in Kanpur on their familiar black soil. Where the spinners will dominate the batsmen as compared to the pacers. This pitch at Green Park will have black clay instead of Chennai's red clay. The bounce will not be high and the ball will not carry much.\

It is expected that the Green Park pitch will be slightly flatter than the Chennai surface and the bounce will decrease as the Test progresses. Chennai's red clay pitch had regular bounce and hence both teams fielded three fast bowlers and two spinners. The pitch did not have much turn but there was enough bounce for the spinners. Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin did not get advantage in the beginning but they took 9 wickets together in the second innings.

India last hosted a Test in Kanpur in 2021. In that Test against New Zealand, the Indian team fielded the spin trio of Ashwin, Jadeja and Akshar. Before that, a Test match was held at this venue for the first time since 2016. In 2016, Team India won easily but in 2021, New Zealand batsmen drew the match.

Considering Kanpur's pitch is likely to slow down, both teams may change their strategy and selection. An additional spinner can take the place of the third fast bowler in both teams. Earlier it was assumed that Kuldeep Yadav or Akshar Patel could make it to the Indian team in this match. In that case, Bumrah is most likely to be rested.
