Jumbangla Desk: Labor dissatisfaction has started to increase again in the industrial area Ashulia. Factory authorities have announced the closure of at least 53 garment factories due to various demands. However, workers have naturally joined the work in other garment factories.

Superintendent of Police of Ashulia Shilpa Police-1 Mohammad Sarwar Alam confirmed this information around 10:30 am on Tuesday.

It is known that the workers in 53 garment factories in Narsinghpur, Jashanpur, Ghoshbagh and Jirabo areas of Nabinagar-Ashulia-Abdullahpur road are holding protest and strike. Of these, 44 garment factories are closed indefinitely. In addition, in 9 garment factories, workers joined work in the morning, but the factory authorities declared a general holiday due to the protest. However, in some garment factories, when the workers came to work in the morning, they returned home after seeing the closure notice under Section 13 (1) at the gate. The owner claims that the factory has been closed due to the situation in the garment industry.

The workers said that several months of salary arrears, minimum wage of 25,000 taka, increase in tiffin fee, withdrawal of cases against the workers have been demanded. But the factory authorities are not serious about the claims. The owners are not listening to the workers' demands and solving the problems.

Ashulia Industrial Police-1 Superintendent of Police Mohammad Sarwar Alam said that today 44 garment factories are closed in Ashulia industrial area. Apart from this, workers in 9 garment factories joined work, but later declared a general holiday. However, no untoward incident was reported anywhere. The workers are staging a strike inside or in front of the factory. Additional police and army patrols are continuing to control the situation.

At this time he also said that we have discussed with the workers, they have raised various demands. The situation can be normalized through a sincere discussion between the owners.
