The incident took place at Abdur Rashid Master's house in Patanish area of ​​Ward No. 5 of Hajiganj Upazila of Chandpur on Sunday (September 15) night. Later, the victim Rafiqul filed a complaint with the Hajiganj police station referring to the unknown thieves.

Expatriate Rafiqul Islam is a Bangladeshi citizen but his wife Noor Hafiza is a Malaysian citizen. He also came to visit Bangladesh. However, after this theft incident, he expressed doubts whether he will come back to Bangladesh or not.

According to the case report, Rafiqul Islam has been living in Malaysia with his family for 17 years and occasionally visits home. He returned to his home in Hajiganj around 2 am on September 15. They woke up around 6:30 in the morning and saw that the theft had taken place.


According to the complaint, among the stolen goods were 11,500 Malaysian ringgits, 100 US dollar notes and 1,000 US dollars. 3 gold rings weighing 2 tons, 2 gold chains weighing 2 and a half tons, 1 gold bracelet weighing 2 and a half tons, 1 smartphone including a total of 14 lakh 80 thousand rupees were stolen.

Deputy Inspector of Hajiganj Police Station Atiqul Islam told the media that since there is no information about the suspects, they are trying to identify the criminals using geolocation.
