Own Correspondent, Gazipur: Production is going on in most of the garment factories in Gazipur. On Tuesday (September 24), workers joined the factory in droves peacefully since morning. However, 13 factories which were announced to be closed yesterday in the face of the labor movement are still closed today.


Most garment factory workers in Gazipur have joined the work

Yesterday, on Monday, there was labor unrest in Tongi, Bagherbazar and Mouchak areas of Gazipur, but there was no news of labor protests anywhere on Tuesday. Workers joined work as usual on Tuesday morning. In addition to the police deployment in the factory area, there are army and BGB patrols. No untoward news has been received since morning.


It is known from industrial owner-worker sources that labor unrest has been going on for several days in Gazipur. Yesterday, Gazipur industrial area was disturbed due to protests, road blockades and vandalism of factories. Holiday declared in 13 factories.


Later the army and police brought the situation under control. However, most of the factories in Gazipur industrial area are open since Tuesday morning. Male and female workers and other officials and employees joined the work peacefully. In addition to its own security personnel, additional police are working to protect the factory. Besides, BGB and army patrols have been strengthened.


Assistant Superintendent of Police of Tongi Zone of Gazipur Industrial Area-2 Mosharraf Hossain said that most of the factories in Gazipur have been open since morning. No labor unrest has been reported yet. District police, metropolitan police are working along with industrial police for factory security. BGB and army patrols have been strengthened. None of the 13 factories that were closed yesterday have resumed operations. 13 factories remain closed today.
