Deputy Assistant Director of Gazipur Fire Service Abdullah Al Arefin confirmed the matter on Monday (September 23) night. Earlier on the same day, the fire started around 7:30 pm, he said.

Deputy Assistant Director of Gazipur Fire Service Abdullah Al Arefin said, after receiving the news of the fire, the fire service reached the spot and started working to bring the fire under control. Four units including two from Konabari Mordan Fire Station and two from Kaliakor Fire Station brought the fire under control in an hour and a half effort.


He also said that 40 tinshed rooms of the colony were burnt in the fire. No casualties were reported. He said that the cause of the fire and the amount of damage will be informed later subject to investigation.

Local residents said that the fire started on Monday evening from Sultan and Mokhles colony of Ambagan area of ​​Mouchak in Kaliakair upazila. Instantly the fire spread to several nearby colonies. Initially, it is believed that the fire may have spread from the gas cylinder.
