Jumbangla Desk: Former Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan fell ill on remand and was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

On Tuesday (September 24) around 5:30 in the afternoon, he was taken to the hospital by the police.

It is known that the sick Nurul Islam Sujan was treated at the One Stop Emergency Center (OSEC) of the emergency department of Dhamek Hospital. Jatrabari police took him from DMEC hospital after an hour of treatment.

Deputy Inspector (SI) of Jatrabari Police Station Mahbub said that he was on remand in a case of Jatrabari Police Station. While on remand, he suddenly fell ill and was brought to Dhaka Medical. Later I am taking him back after treatment from the emergency department.


Kishore Kumar Saha, a doctor on duty at the hospital's emergency department, said that former railway minister Nurul Islam Sujan was brought to the hospital's emergency department. When he felt chest pain, he was brought to Dhaka Medical. After the treatment, he was taken back by the police.

Dhaka's Metropolitan Magistrate Saddam Hossain's court granted a five-day remand to the former railway minister in the Rafiqul Islam murder case of Jatrabari police station in the capital last Sunday (September 22).

On the night of September 16, a team of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested Sujan. He was arrested in a case of Jatrabari police station in the capital.

Incidentally, Nurul Islam participated in the Eighth National Assembly Elections in 2001 as an Awami League candidate and was defeated from Panchagarh-2 constituency. In 2008, he was elected as a Member of Parliament for the first time in the 9th National Parliament Elections. He then became the Railway Minister in 2019 after being elected as a Member of Parliament for three consecutive terms.
