No one will be harassed except the actual accused

Jumbangla Desk: Deputy Commissioner of Police (DC) Muhammad Talebur Rahman of Media Department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said that no one will be harassed except the real accused in the case.

He said this while talking to reporters at his office at DMP's media center on Tuesday (September 24) afternoon.

Muhammad Talebur Rahman said, we have clear instructions that those who are actually involved in the case will be brought under the law. No one shall be unduly harassed.

In response to a question, he said, we are accepting the cases based on the complaint of the aggrieved person. Every case has an investigative process. We bring someone under the law by analyzing various information in the investigation process. Now if a person has a case against him in more than one police station, he is arrested in view of his connection with the complaint. In this case, the investigating officers and senior officers of the case thoroughly analyze the information and if any evidence of involvement is found, they are brought under arrest. No one is being unduly harassed or deliberately arrested.

He said, our work process is of two types. One is preventive policing, another is detective policing. We try to minimize crime from the society as much as possible. In this regard, we have several strategies, the strategies we are applying. About two crore people live in Dhaka city. In this case some events can and often do happen. But we have a system of detective policing after that incident. When an incident occurs, we analyze the reasons behind the incident and the thoughts of the perpetrators, we bring the accused to justice.

In response to another question, he said that if someone is accused in the case, the one we are accusing in the charge sheet is not. After analyzing the relevant evidence, we file the charge sheet against the accused person in the court. In this case, if someone is not concerned, then we take action after judging and analyzing.

In many cases, it has been observed that the plaintiff cannot be found. In response to such a question, DC Media said that there is a law to take action against the plaintiff if he makes a false complaint in the case. We do not take any action without investigation and analysis if anyone makes a false complaint. In that case we would ask the plaintiffs to come to us with objective complaints.

To what extent has the police progressed so far in the investigation of the case of Tofajjal being beaten to death in Dhaka University? In response to such questions, he said that the Dhaka University authorities have formed an investigation committee in this regard. We are also working on our investigation. We hope that we can quickly bring the others involved in this incident under the law. I will be able to uncover the real reason and mystery of the incident. Our investigation is ongoing.

Many policemen died on August 5. In this regard, the police has made a case as a plaintiff or not? In response to such questions, he said that criminal cases are never closed. As preliminary proceedings are underway in these matters, action will be taken against anyone who commits a criminal offence.
