Sarwar Jahan, the father of Tanjim, who lost his only son, said, 'This kind of death should not happen to anyone else. And no father should have to cry like this. I want speedy justice for my son's killers. Tanjim is my only son. He was the only earner in the house. I want speedy trial of this murder and execution of the criminals.'

Lieutenant Tanzim Sarwar, who was stabbed to death by robbers while on duty in Cox's Bazar, has been cremated at his village home. On Tuesday (September 24) he was buried in the local cemetery after Asr prayers at Boali Madrasah grounds in Tangail.

Deceased Tanjim Lt Sarwar is the son of Sarwar Jahan of Karr Betka village in deserted Tangail town. Tanzim is the younger of Sarwar Jahan's one son and one daughter. Her elder sister lives in Dhaka with her husband.

The tragic death of Lt. Tanjim has cast a pall over the entire area. Mourning is going on in the family of the deceased. When the news of Tanzim's death was known in the area, the local people including relatives rushed to his house from morning. In the meantime, senior army officers from Ghatail Shaheed Salahuddin Cantonment met the family of the deceased Tanjim and expressed their condolences.

Around 3:30 pm today, the body of Lt. Tanjim Sarwar Nirjan arrived at Tangail Helipad by helicopter from Cox's Bazar. At that time, the entire area was surrounded by members of the army and law and order forces. From there, his body was taken to his home in Boali area of ​​the city in an ambulance. After being taken there, the whole area became heavy with the cries of the deceased's relatives. After Asr prayers, he was buried in the local cemetery after the Janaza at Boali Madrasa ground in the city.


Earlier, he was given a 'guard of honour'. At this time, GOC General Hussain Mohammad Masihur Rahman of 19 infantry division of Ghatail area, Brigadier General of Jamuna Cantonment. Senior army officers including Mamunur Rashid were present. The family and local residents of his death have demanded maximum punishment for the culprits.

According to a circular published by the Inter-Services Public Relations Department (ISPR), on Monday (September 23) around 3:00 p.m., a team of Bangladesh Army rushed from the Chakoria Army Camp after receiving information about a robbery in East Maijpara village of Dulhazara Union under the Chakoria Upazila. At around 4:00 a.m. while conducting raids in Maijpara village, a dacoit group of 7-8 members ran away after sensing the presence of the army patrol, while Lt. Tanjim Sarwar Nirjan (23) chased some of the dacoit group. Meanwhile, members of the dacoit gang stabbed Lt. Tanzim Sarwar Nirjan in the neck and seriously injured him, causing him to bleed profusely. Lieutenant Tanjim was immediately rescued and taken to Malumghat Memorial Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Lt. Tanzim Sarwar was born into a noble Muslim family in Bowali village in the secluded town of Tangail. This talented young army officer completed higher secondary from Pabna Cadet College and got commissioned in Army Service Corps (ASC) on June 8, 2022 from Bangladesh Military Academy with 82nd long term course.
