Jumbangla Desk: Chief of Army Staff General Waqar-uz-Zaman visited 24 Infantry Division and Chittagong Area today (September 24).

During the visit, the Chief of Army Staff addressed all ranks of soldiers working in Chittagong Cantonment and gave a directive speech.

He then inspected the progress of construction of a multi-storied building of Army Medical College and planted trees.

Later he took the 'Officer's Address' to the army officers of all ranks.

At the beginning of his valuable speech, he sought forgiveness for the death of martyred Lt. Tanzim Charwar and expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family.

He said, Bangladesh Army will remember the sacrifice of this brave young army officer in the service of the motherland with deep respect and Bangladesh Army is proud of him.

After that, he shed light on the ongoing security situation of the country and gave various directions about the activities of the army.

He said that the Bangladesh Army is working impartially and professionally to prevent extra-judicial activities and uphold the rule of law, along with improving the law and order situation in the country and the weapon recovery activities of the joint forces.

He also said that the Bangladesh Army is a symbol of the country and people's trust. He advises to be aware of various rumors circulating on social media as well as instructions to perform duties with honesty, truthfulness and fairness.


Later, the army chief visited Naniarchar zone headquarters of Rangamati region of Chittagong Hill Tracts.

During the visit, the army chief gave instructions to maintain stability, ensure the safety of life and property of the general public, provide assistance to the socio-economic development of the people and be ready to protect the sovereignty of the country. The Army Chief's arrival at the remote hill army camp boosted the morale of army personnel and other security forces deployed in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

He also interacted with civil officers of the local administration and local dignitaries during the visit.

On this occasion, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 24 Infantry Division and Area Commander Chittagong Area, Chief Consultant General of Sena Sadar, Senior Army Officers of Sena Sadaar and Chittagong Area along with ad hoc CSC, Junior Commissioned Officers and soldiers of other ranks were present.- ISPR
