Saiful Islam, Manikganj: An investigation has been started against Mofizur Rahman Liton, the headmaster of Jamunabad High School of Shibaloy Upazila of Manikganj, on charges of irregularities and corruption.

On September 2, Mofizur Rahman submitted a written complaint to the Upazila Nirbahi Officer, signed by a total of 108 people, including students and parents, against Liton for irregularities and corruption.

According to the complaint, Jamunabad High School Principal Mofizur Rahman Liton collected extra money from the students for session fees. SSC exam accepted extortion from students who failed in the previous test exam from 6 thousand to 10 thousand taka. Ex-students of the school illegally collected extra money for various tasks including correcting mistakes, issuing certificates, issuing mark sheets. Various teachers extort money from him on various pretexts. The students complained that the headmaster Mofizur Rahman Liton accepted several lakhs of rupees in the appointment of a nanny. It is alleged that the headmaster embezzled a lot of money from the school on various pretexts.

On the first day of investigation in Jamunabad High School on Monday afternoon, statements of some students and parents were taken, but headmaster Mofizur Rahman Liton was absent.

Headmaster Mofizur Rahman Liton was contacted on his cell phone regarding the complaint, but he did not receive the call.

In this regard, Upazila Secondary Education Officer and Investigation Officer Md Abul Khayer said that the statements of eight students and their parents were taken on the first day of the investigation. The statements of others will be taken in stages. The investigation is still ongoing. Details will be given after the investigation.
