Businessman killed, 4 injured in bus-CNG collision in Sreepur

Own Correspondent, Gazipur: A raw material trader named Helal Mia (50) was killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw in Sreepur, Gazipur. His son and 4 others were injured in this incident .

Deputy Inspector (SI) Sohel Rana confirmed the matter on Tuesday (September 24) evening. Earlier on the same day in the morning, the accident took place at Tengra road junction of the municipal area of Sreepur-Maona regional highway.

The deceased is the son of Abdur Rashid of Lohagach village of Helal Mia town area. He used to trade in raw materials in Sreepur market for a long time. On the other hand, the injured are Suman Mia, son of deceased Helal Mia, raw material trader Jalal Uddin, Ahsan Ullah and CNG driver Borhan.

SI Sohail Rana said, further legal action will be taken in view of the application of the relatives of the deceased and the decision of the higher officials.

Suman Mia, the son of the deceased, said that on Tuesday morning, 4 of us left Sreepur Chowrasta with that CNG to buy goods from the raw material market of Mauna Chowrasta. A short distance from the Tengra road junction on the Sreepur-Maona regional road, a recklessly speeding bus from the front hit the CNG carrying us head-on. My father, who was in the CNG, got serious head injuries and died on the spot. Later the injured were rescued and taken to Sreepur Hospital. He also said that the bus had no front lights and the driver had gone to the wrong site and filled us with CNG.

Raja Mia, businessman of Sreepur market, said that most of the buses plying on regional roads in the morning are brought to the bus stand by helpers. As a result of which accidents often occur. Something like that may have happened today. Because, at the time of today's accident, the headlight of that bus was not on.

Dr. Shahreena Khanam, a doctor on duty at the emergency department of Sripur Upazila Health Complex, said that 3 people were brought to the hospital with injuries in the morning. One of them was in critical condition. They were quickly sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital with first aid.
