Jumbangla Desk: Altab Khan, who is accused of being the mastermind of the syndicate that illegally crossed Kuala Lumpur airport for Bangladeshi workers, has been remanded. The Putrajaya Magistrate's Court granted his remand until Tuesday (September 24) on an application by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

Altaf Khan, who is known as the mastermind of the syndicate formed to illegally cross the airport of Bangladeshi workers in Malaysia, was taken into remand on Monday. The court granted the remand by granting the application made by the anti-corruption commission of the country.

Altaf Khan was arrested by the Intelligence Division of the country's Anti-Corruption Commission from Klang, Selangor state at around 8pm on Sunday. Altaf worked as a middleman with syndicates crossing Kuala Lumpur airport from 2022, according to the country's Anti-Corruption Commission.

Meanwhile, various media reports in the country said that his syndicate had been using different codes to get foreigners to cross using the 'counter setting' at Kuala Lumpur airport with bribes. While Bangladeshi citizens were called 'school boy', Myanmar citizens were called 'junta', Pakistanis were called 'carpet' and Indians were called 'soy sauce' or 'rooty chanai'.

In this incident, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission recovered about 800,000 ringgit by raiding the houses of two local immigration officials associated with the syndicate.

Since then, immigration officers stationed at Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport have been banned from using mobile phones while on duty.
