Own Correspondent: There have been 7 more cases against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court of Dhaka and various police stations last Saturday, Monday and Tuesday. The number of cases against him stands at 204. Among them, the number of murder cases is 179.

Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Prime Minister and went to India on August 5 in the face of student uprising. Then on August 13, the first case was filed against him in Dhaka court. Since then one case after another is filed against him.

In most of the cases, apart from former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former ministers of her government, leaders of Awami League, former IGP of police, former commissioner of DMP, and various ranks of police officials have been accused.

Out of which 35 leading people including former Law Minister Anisul Haque, former Prime Minister's Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman F Rahman, former Information Technology State Minister Junaid Ahmed Palak and some ministers, members of parliament, journalists have been arrested in various murder cases.


Meanwhile, 37 cases were filed against former prime minister and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia from 2007 to 2016 for corruption, killing people by setting fire to vehicles, violence, defamation and vandalism. The cases include five corruption cases, four defamation cases and one sedition case. The remaining cases are for murder, arson and sabotage.

After the fall of Sheikh Hasina on August 5, the cases against Khaleda Zia are being dismissed one after another.

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia was released on August 6, the day after the fall of the Awami League government, in two corruption cases. Got his passport. After that, Khaleda Zia was acquitted by the CMM court of Dhaka on September 3, dismissing 5 cases of defamation. The court dismissed a defamation case filed by Narail against Khaleda Zia yesterday.

The process of removing him from the net of 29 other cases pending in various judicial courts has already started. BNP lawyers have expressed hope that he will be released from these cases very soon.
