He said, last Sunday and Tuesday morning, the new cub could be seen with the zebra herd. Currently the new cubs are kept under special care to protect them from attacks by other ferocious animals. Earlier, the total number of zebras in the safari park was 28. 14 of them are male and 14 are female. There are 30 zebras in the park including new born cubs.

Anisur Rahman, wildlife supervisor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park, said the zebra is an African shaven quadruped mammal of the Ecuadorian family. which are particularly known for their distinctive black stripes. In the same enclosure of the park live zebras along with giraffes, chitras and maya deer and some other animals.

Anisur Rahman also said that zebra cubs drink mother's milk for 7 to 8 months. They move around in herds. Other members of the herd also ensure the safety of new members. A female zebra goes through a gestation period of 12 to 13 months. Although it lives for 20 years in nature, it has been recorded to live up to 40 years in confined zones.

According to park sources, after the establishment of the park in 2013, several zebras were brought to the safari park from South Africa through an animal marketing company. Zebras roam a large area of scrub and grassland in the 'African Safari' section of the park. The park is home to zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, gazelles, common antelopes, chitra and maya deer, among other animals.
