According to the forecast, a low pressure is present over West-Central Bay of Bengal and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal. The extension of monsoon axis extends over Madhya Pradesh, Odisha low pressure center and Bangladesh to Assam. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay of Bengal.


As a result, light to moderate rain or thundershowers with gusty winds may occur temporarily in many places across the country till tomorrow Thursday (September 26). Along with that there may be heavy to very heavy rain at some places.

During this time, the day and night temperatures may drop slightly across the country, said the Meteorological Department. The extended five-day forecast indicated that the trend of rains may decrease.


Due to low pressure, Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra sea ports of the country have been asked to show local warning signal number 3. Fishing boats and trawlers stationed in North Bay of Bengal have been asked to approach the coast with caution until further notice.


In addition, the weather forecast for the next 60 hours from 6 am today. Omar Farooq said that in the first 12 hours there may be rain or thundershower with temporary gusty winds in most places of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions. Heavy to very heavy rain may also occur at some places. Day and night temperatures will drop by 1 to 4 degrees Celsius during this time.


The forecast for the next 12 hours said rain is likely again at most places in the same division. Heavy rain is also expected at some places and the temperature is likely to drop by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius during this time.
