About 6000 families of Padma Par became waterlogged. In addition to disrupting the normal life of the riverside residents, multifaceted crises are occurring. The water level of Padma river has increased by 11 cm in the last 24 hours. At present, water is flowing 80 cm below the danger line of the river. Another 200 hectares of crops have been submerged due to rising water in Padma. Crops of 1 thousand 559 hectares of Chapainawabganj Sadar and Shibganj have been drowned. About 5 thousand 315 farmers of these two upazilas have lost vegetables including maskalai, saplings, summer onions, sugarcane and sugarcane.

6 thousand 40 families of 6 unions of Chapainawabganj Sadar and Shibganj upazilas are water-logged. Among them, 462 families in Alatuli Union of Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila and 463 families in Narayanpur Union. On the other hand, the people of Shibganj upazila's four unions are about 5 thousand 115 families. Among them 250 families in Panka Union, 15 families in Uzirpur Union, 4 thousand 500 families in Durlabhpur Union, 350 families in Manaksha Union.

Executive Engineer of Chapainawabganj Water Development Board SM Ahsan Habib said that the water level of Padma River has increased during the last week due to the upstream flow. In the last 24 hours, the water level of Padma river has increased by 11 cm. The water level in Padma is 22.05 meters.

At present the water of Padma is flowing only 80 cm below the boundary line. However, the river water will start decreasing in a few days, said the official.

The people of Padma Par say that people are spending their days in fear of floods due to the increase of water in Padma at an unusual rate. When there is a flood, we live a helpless life. Due to floods, the river becomes huge. Communicating with the district headquarters by crossing this huge river becomes a very difficult matter.

Abdul Awal of Boglauri area of ​​Shibganj upazila said that due to the increase of water in Padma river since few days, water has entered people's houses along with crop lands. Almost knee-deep in the houses of the village near the river. This is where people spend their days. People are spending their days very hard.

Mir Al Mansoor Shoaib, officer in charge of Chapainawabganj Relief and Rehabilitation Branch, said that the flood issue was discussed in a meeting at the Deputy Commissioner's office recently. In the meantime, the district administration has made all preparations to deal with the flood. People in the lower areas are being searched. Sufficient food is also stocked for distribution in affected areas if necessary.
