Jumbangla Desk: Chief Advisor of the Interim Government. Muhammad Yunus said, through the life sacrifice and indomitable leadership of the youth, revolutionary changes have taken place in Bangladesh. They gave their lives to build a non-discrimination society and a prosperous country.

He sought the help of foreign friends to build the new Bangladesh of the youth's dream.

In a reception on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly session on Tuesday evening, September 24, New York time, the chief adviser said to foreign friends, "The sacrifice of young people has created a great opportunity for us. We don't want to miss this opportunity. The youth want to build a new Bangladesh through radical changes in the existing state structures and institutions. We need all of your support to implement this.'

A reception was organized to mark the 50th year of Bangladesh's membership in the United Nations. Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, United States Assistant Secretary of State for Central and South Asia Donald Luce and representatives of various countries attended the event.

Bangladesh became a full member of the United Nations on 17 September 1974.

The Chief Adviser was accompanied by Foreign Affairs Adviser Touhid Hossain, Energy Adviser Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan, Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations Ambassador Muhammad Abdul Muhith, Principal Adviser's SDG Coordinator Lamia Morshed, Chief Adviser's Special Assistant Mahfuz Alam, Chief Adviser's Press Secretary. Along with Professor Yunus, photographer and writer Shahidul Alam unveiled two books written on the events of the student-led popular uprising.

Remembering the sacrifice of the students, Professor Yunus said, 'The entire nation is united today. We do not want to disappoint those who dreamed of a new Bangladesh.'

He mentioned that his government is working towards building a new electoral system through institutional reforms.

Dr. Yunus said, there was no dream in front of the youth. Dictatorship destroyed their dreams and future. So they did not hesitate to face the bullet to bring down the dictatorship.

Addressing foreign friends, Nobel laureate Professor Yunus said that the courage and determination shown by the youth of Bangladesh has overwhelmed us. Standing in front of the bullet, they did not hesitate to accept paralysis. He said, we want your support to build a Bangladesh of democratic aspirations of the youth.

The Chief Adviser, who is visiting New York to attend the United Nations General Session, had a busy time yesterday. He attended a meeting with US President Joe Biden as well as several other meetings and events.
