The National Consumer Rights Protection Department raided various hilsa markets and stores in the country on Wednesday (September 25) to control the rising prices of hilsa. Two special teams of the organization raided Rajdhani Karwan Bazar and Jatrabari wholesale fish market. The evidence of the increased price of hilsa was found during the market visit.

Abdul Jabbar Mondal, Assistant Director of the organization's Dhaka District Office, conducted the campaign in the caravan market of the capital.

He said, there is a doubt whether the price at which the hilsa is being sold by the traders is reasonable. The receipt of the sale is not being given. As a result, retailers are also getting an opportunity to increase prices.

Abdul Jabbar Mandal said that the businessmen should sell hilsa at a reasonable profit and the government has decided to export hilsa fish to India. As soon as the news came to light, the fish traders increased the price by Tk 200-300 per kg. These must be eliminated.

During the operation, this officer caught a businessman red handed. At that time, the businessman admitted his crime. As a result, he was fined two thousand rupees. However, the businessman claimed that the price was slightly increased. Then the fish is sold at a certain price. Otherwise there is no profit.

Abdul Jabbar Mondal said, retail traders are profiting up to 700 taka! The sad picture of excessive greed for profit is now in the fish market. The situation is the same all over the country. In this, hilsa is going beyond the purchasing power of the general consumer.

Meanwhile, after the operation, hilsa is being sold again at a higher price, when Abdul Jabbar Mandal was informed about this, he said that the mentality of the traders should be changed. These cannot be fixed by jail and fine. We don't want to go into action.

Mentioning that the weight is also manipulated along with the price, he said, many unscrupulous traders are cheating the consumers by manipulating the price as well as the weight. It must be closed. If this manipulation is not stopped, it will be forced to pay jail and fine.
