Jumbangla Desk: The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has published a circular regarding the movement of three-wheeled mechanized and non-mechanized vehicles on national highways. In the notification, three-wheeler mechanized and non-mechanized vehicles mean CNG, three-wheelers, autorickshaws, autotempos, foot rickshaws and vans.
BRTA issued a special notification on Wednesday (September 25).
The agency says that three-wheelers have been plying on the national highway in violation of the law for some time now. This is causing an adverse reaction in the public mind along with the increase in road accidents. In such a situation, three-wheeler, auto-rickshaw-autotempo and non-mechanized vehicles will be prohibited on all highways of the country under the road safety provisions.
However, in areas where there are no CNG filling stations, three-wheelers, auto-rickshaws-autotempos plying without passengers are allowed to collect fuel from the CNG filling stations located along the nearest highway from 6 am to 8 am.
But it has been warned that proper legal action will be taken if these vehicles run on the highway in violation of the law.
