Jumbangla Desk: Chairman of Agla Union Parishad of Nawabganj Upazila of Dhaka and Vice President of Dhaka District Women's Awami League Shirin Chowdhury has been detained by Immigration Police from Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

Shirin Chowdhury went to the airport with her husband to go abroad on Wednesday afternoon.

When the Immigration Police of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport got suspicious, he identified himself as the UP Chairman during interrogation. Later, when the Nawabganj police station was contacted, Shirin Chowdhury was arrested on the basis of confirmation that a case had been filed against him. Later he was handed over to Nawabganj police station.

Nawabganj Police Station OC Mominul Islam said that Agla Union Parishad Chairman Shirin Chowdhury and her husband Mahfuzur Rahman alias Masudur Rahman went to Hazrat Shahjalal Airport at around 12 noon to go to Australia. When the immigration police informed the Nawabganj police station, they came to know that there are 2 cases against the UP chairman. Later they were arrested.

The OC also said that the immigration police handed over the detainees to Nawabganj police station after Wednesday evening. They are in the custody of Nawabganj police station.
