International Desk: On Monday morning, 12-year-old Zahra woke up scared. 'I was very scared because of the bombs,' the little girl from Bourge Qalawi in Lebanon told Al Jazeera.

The village of Zahra is located between Nabatih and Binte Jabil in southern Lebanon. Zahra and her family fled to Lailaki, a southern suburb of Beirut, shortly after Hezbollah and Israel began cross-border attacks in October last year. On the same day, Zahra got scared once again.

'I was very scared and then I got the news that they were going to bomb our building,' she said of the family's refuge in Beirut.

On Monday morning people around Lebanon – especially in the southern suburbs and the Bekaa Valley – received messages from unknown numbers urging them to leave their homes quickly. About 80,000 such messages were sent.

Zahra said, 'I started crying. I yelled at my mom to put her phone down and get dressed. According to Lebanon's Ministry of Health, 585 people were killed and 1,645 wounded by Israeli airstrikes. Many of them are said to be civilians.

Lebanon's Hezbollah launched an attack on Israel on October 8 in retaliation for attacks on Hamas in Israel. In response, Israel also attacked. So far, 1,139 people have been killed and 240 others have been captured in Lebanon by the Israeli attack.
