Jumbangla Desk: What Renu Begum (42) calls a shop, cannot be called a shop. On the footpath of Dhanmondi road number 3 of the capital, some tools for repairing rickshaws are kept. From 8 in the morning to 10:30 in the night there is little repair work. It earns meager income even if I work all day.

Standing on the footpath next to the Arghya sculpture, Renu was pointing to the alley next to the Allianz Fransage and saying, everyone went in a procession towards the home minister's house. Due to the shooting, the students took position at the head of road number 3 after returning from there. Then the helicopter came from the direction of the home minister's house. Initially sound grenades were thrown, but later they were fired from above. Those are the bullets that hit Shubo's head. The boy died early the next morning at Dhaka Medical College. Talking to Renu, Samakal reported the details.

Renu, who lost her active son in the anti-discrimination student movement, said, 'The family is torn; 2 years and 9 months ago I took 10 thousand taka on interest. I have been paying 1000 rupees a month, but I have not been able to repay the principal amount even today. Shubo could do all the work of a cycle-rickshaw. 1 thousand 200 to 1 thousand 400 taka earned per day. I know some things, but not everything. It is not more than 400 rupees a day. Even though my elder son Sohag (24) is with me now, he cannot do all the work. I run the shop for about 15 years. Sometimes I keep it off for a couple of years. He used to pay the expenses of the family by driving a good auto-rickshaw.'

As Shubo died long before the fall of the Awami League government, the family had to endure persecution. After hearing the news that Shubo was killed in the movement, Shubo's family was evicted from the rented house owned by former MP Sadek Khan in Rayerbazar, Mohammadpur. They have been living in a house in Jago school lane next to Rayerbazar Boishakhi playground since last September 1. The rent of that one-room house is five and a half thousand taka.

Renu said that her first husband Abul Hossain has four children - Sohag (24), Shubo (19), Jannatul Ferdous (17) and Khadija Akhter Mim (15). When Abul Hossain left the family, the current husband Md. She got married to Shamim. There are three children in this family - Farzana Akhtar Sumi (12), Shamima Akhtar Rumi (9) and Arafat Islam Sohan (7). Shubo used to keep tea in a flask in the shop. Shamim now goes around selling tea with that flask. Daughters Jannatul, Mim and Sumi used to sell balloons in front of LabAid. Since Jannat is of marriageable age, they cannot send her to that job anymore. However, he cannot run a family of eight.

He said, 'Eat tea and bread. Sometimes I eat rice. I have diabetes. Gallbladder operation was done a year and a half ago. I need to take medicine, so it is better if I eat rice at noon. But it is not possible every day.'

July 19 was a hot day in the capital Dhaka in the anti-discrimination student movement. The government forces heavily attacked the protesters. Jawad Chowdhury, a protesting student, was present when Shubo was shot dead on Dhanmondi Road No. 3 that day . Jawad, a resident of the same road, lamented that the government is doing a lot of work; But why should a martyr's mother live such an inhumane life? Two months have passed since the incident. I do not understand why no action has been taken even today. But I am hopeful, something good will happen; But it is unfortunate that no inquiry has been made so far.
