World Bank will give 3.5 billion dollars to Bangladesh

Jumbangla Desk: The World Bank will give 3.5 billion US dollars to Bangladesh to support the reform initiatives of the interim government. The World Bank will support reforms in the digitalization, liquidity, energy and power and transport sectors.
On Wednesday (September 25) at the United Nations headquarters in New York, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, the chief adviser of the interim government of Bangladesh, Professor Dr. World Bank President Ajay Banga made this announcement in a meeting with Muhammad Yunus.
It is known that in the meeting Professor Dr. Yunus sought the World Bank's support for the sweeping reforms undertaken by the interim government. He asked the World Bank to be creative about its lending programs. He said, this is a great opportunity to rebuild the country.
Dr. Banga, a longtime friend of Yunus, said at least two billion dollars in new loans would be given and another one and a half billion dollars would be recovered from existing programs. At the same time, the World Bank will support reforms in digitalisation, liquidity, energy and power and transport.
The World Bank president discussed energy sector cooperation in South Asia and how hydropower produced in Nepal and Bhutan could be shared by neighbors like India and Bangladesh . Energy and Power Advisor Fauzul Kabir Khan was present in the meeting.
