Jumbangla Desk: One thousand pieces of blankets have been recovered from the house of Shahidul Islam Ripon, General Secretary of Hijla Upazila Swachhasevak League of Barisal. On Monday night, the Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) raided and seized the blankets from a warehouse in Khunna Bazar of the upazila.

It is known that Ripon Khan, the general secretary of the Volunteer League, is an assistant teacher in a local primary school. He is known as the right-hand man of Hijla-Mehendiganj former MP Pankaj Nath. Ripon Khan did all the work of Pankaj Nath when Awami League was in power. Ripon Khan became a millionaire overnight. No one had the courage to protest against him.

Ripon Khan said, these blankets belong to MP Pankaj Nath. These could not be distributed due to conflict in the local Awami League during the national elections. Later the upazila parishad election came. These blankets given to the poor belong to a company.

Hijla UNO Md. Jahangir Hossain said, we seized about 1000 blankets when the locals informed us. 'Not for sale' is written on the blanket. Blankets are supposed to be for the poor and needy. Action will be taken after investigating this matter.
