Jumbangla Desk: The discussion with India regarding the water of the same river will start soon, said Riaz Hamidullah, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.


He said this when asked about the meeting of Foreign Affairs Minister Tauhid Hossain with Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session.

He said that External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had a discussion with Foreign Affairs Advisor Tauhid Hussain about activating the established processes with India. Bangladesh discussed ways to activate the mechanism established with India to continue discussions on matters of mutual interest. Discussions on common river water will start soon.


Riaz Hamidullah said that this was the first meeting between S. Jaishankar and the foreign adviser. Bangladesh sees this meeting as a positive step. He also mentioned that there are many problems between the two countries including the border situation.


Meanwhile, Jaishankar wrote on X (Twitter) after the meeting, "On Monday evening in New York, Bangladesh's Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Had a meeting with Touhid Hossain. Our bilateral relationship has been highlighted.'
