The body of the man, Mukti Ranjan Joy, was found hanging from the slope of a tree in Odisha's Bhadrak district, police said. Mukti Ranjan is one of the accused among the three friends of a female colleague who was murdered in Bengaluru.

Accused murderer Mukti Ranjan Jay escaped from Bengaluru and came to his village Padi Pandi on Wednesday. News agency IANS reported quoting unconfirmed sources that the body of the man was found by locals.

Meanwhile, the body of Mahalakshmi, a 26-year-old female victim of the murder, was cut into 26 pieces and kept in the refrigerator. After his body was recovered on Saturday (September 21), the entire town was shocked. According to the police, the pieces of Mahalakshmi's body recovered from the fridge were decomposed. He is believed to have been murdered at least two weeks ago.

Local neighbors informed Mahalakshmi's family after smelling a foul smell in the adjoining flat. Later, the woman's mother and sister, who live in Tripura, entered her flat last Saturday and recovered the body parts.

Mahalakshmi used to work in a mall. She lived separately from her husband. However, the husband blamed his three friends for Mahalakshmi's murder.

Mahalakshmi's husband Hemant Das said his wife has a bandh in Uttarakhand. He is the mastermind of this murder.
