Bangladesh is in the list of top countries with long working hours

Jumbangla Desk: In a recently published report of International Labor Organization ILO, new statistics of working hours have emerged. It shows that Bangladesh ranks 11th among the top 12 countries in terms of weekly working hours. The list contains information from 170 countries. It was updated on January 11 this year.

According to the report, Bhutan tops the list of average weekly working hours. Workers in the country work an average of 54.4 hours a week. Next is the United Arab Emirates, with an average weekly working hour of 50.9. Next on the list are Lesotho (50.4), Congo (48.6) and Qatar (48 hours). In addition, weekly working hours are 47.7 in Liberia, 47.6 in Mauritania, 47.6 in Lebanon, 47.3 in Mongolia and 47 in Jordan.
A worker in Bangladesh earns an average of 46 per week. Works for 9 hours. The average working hours in India is 46.7.
Bangladesh ranks among the top three in terms of the number of workers who work 49 hours or more per week. A maximum of 61 percent of workers in Bhutan work 49 hours a week or more. This average is 51 percent in India and 47 percent in Bangladesh. Following this trend are Mauritania (46 percent), Congo (45), Burkina Faso (41), Pakistan (40), United Arab Emirates (39), Lebanon (38), Morocco (38), Sierra Leone (36), Lesotho. 36), Namibia (34).
The Oceania island nation of Vanuatu has the lowest weekly working hours (24.7). An average of 4 percent of workers in the country work 49 hours or more.
