Jumba Bangla Desk: It has been alleged that an eight-month-21-day-old child died in the womb due to wrong blood application in the body of a pregnant woman named Sathi Begum at New Alpana Clinic in Gurdaspur, Natore. According to police and locals, her husband Khairul Islam admitted her pregnant partner to the New Alpana Clinic in Chanchkod Bazar, Gurdaspur town center, on Sunday (September 22) morning. There blood group is determined as 'A' positive. The clinic authority immediately applied a bag of 'A' positive group blood to the partner's body. Immediately after the blood enters, he begins to have shortness of breath and becomes like a red wheel all over his body. At one stage, the movement of the baby in the womb stops.
When the situation worsened on Monday (September 23) afternoon, the wife was admitted to Hajera Clinic in Gurdaspur. After the examination there, he found out that the unborn child had died due to wrong blood being applied to his wife's body.
Gurdaspur Hajera Clinic Managing Director Amirul Islam said that the woman was admitted to our clinic in a critical condition. After giving primary treatment, the blood group of the pregnant woman is found to be 'O' positive. Applying wrong blood from another clinic causes various side effects in partner's body. Eventually we took out the dead baby by caesarean section around 9pm on Monday night. Sathi was sent to Rajshahi on Tuesday afternoon for better treatment.
Khairul Islam, the husband of the victim housewife, said that he appeared at the police station on Monday night with the dead child. On the advice of the police, he made a written complaint to the police station. Currently, he is in the hospital with his wife after leaving the child in the morgue. In this incident, he demanded justice from the New Alpana Clinic authorities.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gurdaspur police station Golam Sarwar Hossain said that he has received a written complaint about this incident. An autopsy has been conducted on the child. Necessary legal action will be taken after receiving the post-mortem report.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) Asadul Islam said that although the clinic was sealed, no other measures could be taken as the authorities were absconding. He also said that regular raids will be conducted in private clinics in Gurdaspur.
