A heavy rainfall warning was issued by the Meteorological Department last Tuesday. It was then said that "moderately heavy to very heavy" rain may occur across the country for the next 48 hours from 6 pm that day, i.e. till 6 pm today. Along with this, the department also said that there was a low pressure in the sea two days before that.
AKM Nazmul Haque said, 'Low pressure was created in the sea on September 22. Later it entered India. But convective clouds continue to form over Bangladesh.
The low pressure over the west-central Bay of Bengal and its vicinity has now weakened and aligned with the monsoon axis.
AKM Nazmul Haque also said that monsoon is currently active in Bangladesh. Due to the combination of low pressure and active monsoon, heavy to heavy rainfall is occurring in the country.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has asked to lower the local warning signal No. 3 from the 4 seaports of the country as the threat of strong winds has passed. This information was given in the marine weather warning on Thursday (September 26).
Meteorologist Dr. The warning signed by Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallick said that there is no possibility of gale force winds in North Bay of Bengal and adjacent coastal areas of Bangladesh. In this situation Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra seaports have been asked to lower the signal.
