International Desk: After all speculations, Hilsa from Bangladesh has finally arrived in India. In the first phase, more than 20 tons of hilsa went on Thursday. The people of West Bengal are happy to get hilsa from Bangladesh before the upcoming Durga Puja. Bangladeshi hilsa will be available in every market from Saturday, Indian importers said.

Rows of trucks loaded with Bangladeshi hilsa have touched Indian soil. In this, the busyness of Hilsa Khalash in several land ports including Petrapol and Agartala in India, adjacent to Bangladesh, peaked.

One of the truck drivers said, 'After many days of trouble, this is the first fish to come. Dhaka, Barisal have loaded fish from many places.

Indian importers are happy to have received more than 20 tons of hilsa fish sent from Bangladesh in the first phase. By today (Friday, September 27), imported hilsa from India will reach the wholesale fish markets of West Bengal including Kolkata, Howrah. They also expect that hilsa will be available in all retail markets in Bangladesh from Saturday.

One of the importers said, 'We wait for this time every year for Padma fish to arrive from Bangladesh. We will bring.'

Imported hilsa from West Bengal weigh from about one kg to more than that. The estimated maximum market value of which is 2 thousand rupees.

Sellers are also happy to sell Padma hilsa in the market before Puja. However, fishmongers are skeptical about how much the price of this fish is within the reach of the middle class.

Sukumar Mallik, who sells fish in a local market in Howrah, said, 'In the wholesale market, the price of hilsa is going up to Tk 1700 per kg. Prices will increase further in the retail market. As a result, it is not clear how many people will be interested in buying hilsa.

Syed Anwar Maqsood, editor of Kolkata's 'Fiss Importers Association', however, said, 'If the supply increases, the price of hilsa may decrease before Puja. In that case, Hilsa will also fall on the leaves of the middle class in Puja.'

Bangladesh Ministry of Commerce has approved the export of 2 thousand 420 tons of hilsa fish to India around the upcoming Durga Puja. According to the government's conditions, the hilsa export program should be completed on October 13. Analysts believe that the friendly relations between Bangladesh and India will reach a new height as the interim government keeps the talks and the speed of business and trade between the two countries will increase.
