It is known that hilsa per kg is not less than Tk 1800-2000 in different markets. The price of vegetables has increased by Tk 10-20 per kg in a week. And green chillies are fire. 80-100 taka per kg is being sold at 300 taka. The prices of eggs and ginger also increased slightly.

But the price of chicken has decreased. Broilers and golden chickens have come close to government fixed prices. Prices of rice, potato, onion are stable as last week.

This information was obtained by visiting various markets including Town Hall Bazar, Karwan Bazar, Hatirpool and talking to the buyers and sellers of Mohammadpur today, Friday (September 26).

Hilsa is sold at high prices

Prices rose last week when the interim government announced the export of hilsa to India on the occasion of autumn Durga Puja. Forced, the National Consumer Directorate is conducting raids in various markets. But the price is not decreasing.

Retailers say that the price of hilsa will not decrease if it is not held tightly. In this regard, Hanif, the fish seller of the town hall market, said, 'We do not increase the price. We will be able to sell at a lower price as well. Hilsa weighing 1 kg is 1800 taka per kg, 950 grams per kg is 1600 taka.

Another seller named Sohel said, 'The price of hilsa is high. Hilsa weighing more than 1 kg is Tk 2000 per kg. 1 kg weight is 1800 taka per kg. The price is high. So it cannot be sold at a lower price.'

The price of other fish has not decreased. Retailers of various markets said that as before, Roe-Katla is Tk 300-650 per kg depending on the size, Prawns Tk 500 to 1200 per kg. Tangra 600 to 1000 taka, kachki and mala fish 400-500, pangas and tilapia 180-250, horn 500-700, magur 600, kai fish 400-800 taka and pabda 400-500 taka, kajli 1000 taka per kg.

Monsoon effect on vegetables, green chillies 300 taka per kg

Almost every day of the week, sometimes drizzle, sometimes heavy rain. This is affecting the price of vegetables. Retailers say vegetables cannot be collected from fields due to rain. Due to this, the supply of vegetables in the market has decreased. Therefore, the price of vegetables has increased almost as compared to the previous week. Some vendors including Kalu traders of Town Hall market said, 'The price of vegetables has increased by Tk 10-20 compared to last week. But the most increased in green pepper. The price of green chillies per kg is 280-300 taka.


It has been seen in different markets, brinjal 100-140 taka, shrimp 80-90, patol, drumstick and dhundul 60-80 taka. Papaya 30-40, Cucumber 60-80, Barbati and Kachurlati 90-100 Taka per kg. Tomato, carrot 160 taka, beans 230-250 taka and gourd, pumpkin and cabbage 60-70 taka each. As before, the retailers sell gourd, puishak at 30-40 taka, kalmi shak, lalshak, palang and jute at 15-20 taka.

Despite the National Board of Revenue (NBR) reducing duty on potatoes and onions, the market was seen to be selling as before. Sellers said that domestic onion is Tk 110-120 per kg, imported onion is Tk 115. Potato 55-60 taka and garlic 200-240 taka. However, the price of ginger has slightly increased to Tk 240-280 per kg.

The price of eggs is also high

Import of eggs from India and the government has fixed the price at Tk 141 per dozen, but the market does not match it. 160-165 taka dozen are being sold in different markets. 1 dozen eggs packed by Kazi Farms are selling at Rs. 190 more.

Last week, broiler 190 and gold were sold at Tk 290 per kg, but yesterday broiler was sold at Tk 180-190 and gold at Tk 260-270 per kg. But as before, domestic chicken is Tk 500-550 per kg. Beef was seen to be sold at Tk 750-780 and goat meat at Tk 1050 to 1100 per kg.
