Bangladesh may complain to the International Criminal Court

Jumbangla Desk: The chief advisor of the interim government met with the chief counsel of the International Criminal Court (ICC) Karim Khan. Muhammad Yunus.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session in New York on Thursday (September 26).

At this time, Dr. Karim Khan wanted to know about the process of filing a case of crimes against humanity in the ICC against those responsible for the genocide during the July-August revolution. Yunus.

He also mentioned that at least 700 people were martyred and more than 20 thousand people were injured in this revolution.

Karim Khan said, Bangladesh can definitely file a complaint in the Hague-based court. However, proper procedures have to be followed to file a case of crimes against humanity in the ICC.

Earlier, in a meeting at the UN headquarters on Wednesday, the chief adviser made a three-point proposal. Among the proposals are the UN chief's call for an emergency conference to review the overall situation and recommendations, strengthening joint assistance plans to address the Rohingya humanitarian crisis, and international efforts to ensure justice and accountability for the 2017 genocide in Myanmar's Rakhine state.
