Jumbangla Desk: After the unbearable heat, the water level of Teesta has started to rise due to continuous rainfall and upstream flow. 44 sluices of Teesta Barrage have been opened as they could not handle the water pressure.

Mohammad Rashedin, Deputy Engineer of Water Development Board Dalia branch confirmed this information.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a trend of heavy rainfall in Rangpur division and adjacent upstream for two days on Friday and Saturday. As a result, the water level of Teesta, Dharla and Dudhkumar rivers may increase rapidly for the next two days and the water level of the rivers may remain stable for the next day. In the next two days, Teesta river water in Lalmonirhat, Nilphamari, Rangpur and Kurigram districts may flow under the level warning limit.

At Dalia Point of Teesta Barrage, the country's largest irrigation project, water flow was recorded at 51.76 cm at 9 am on Friday. which is flowing 39.39 cm below the horizon (normal 52.15 cm).

Water Development Board (PUBO) Rangpur Deputy Assistant Engineer's office said that at 9 am on Friday, the flow of water at Kaunia Point of Teesta River was recorded as 28.75 cm. which (normal 29.31 cm) is flowing 56.56 cm below the boundary line. Earlier, at 6 am, water flowed below the danger line by 61 cm.

Also around 9 am, 20.04 cm (normal 23.25 cm) at Chilmari point of Brahmaputra river in Kurigram, 26.64 cm (normal 29.60 cm) at Pateshwari point of Dudhkumar river, 22.90 cm (normal 26.60 cm) at Kurigram point of Dharla river. 05 cm), 15.26 cm (normal 19.35 cm) at Phulchari point of Yamuna river in Gaibandha, 17.35 cm (normal 21.25 cm) at Gaibandha point of Ghaght river. Sources say that water is not flowing over the boundary in any of the rivers of Rangpur division.

Meanwhile, as a result of the daily rainfall and the increase in the water flowing upstream, the water in all the rivers in Rangpur, Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat, Kurigram and Gaibandha districts has also continued to increase in the water bill. As the low-lying areas are flooded, houses and roads are at risk of erosion. Along with this, various crops including early winter vegetables and seeds are being destroyed due to water rising in the cropland.

Meteorologist in charge of Rangpur Meteorological Office. Mostafizar Rahman said that 130 millimeters of rainfall has been recorded in Rangpur district in the last 24 hours.
