Jumbangla Desk: The Awami League government collapsed on August 5 in the face of mass coup. Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left the country and fled to India on the same day. After the interim government came to power, many leaders of his party secretly left the country. After that, various speculations started about the first-line leaders of Awami League.

Shamim Osman

After a long month, at the beginning of this month, Shamim Osman, the most talked about leader of Narayanganj and former Member of Parliament, was seen with his family at the Dargah of Nizam Uddin Auliar in India.

According to a source in a national daily, Monirul Haque of Bangladesh, who had just completed his post-graduate final examination from an Indian university, met him at Nizamuddin Auliya's Dargah in Delhi. Monirul Haque said that Shamim Osman prayed for Sheikh Hasina at Nizam Uddin Auliya Dargah. Some of his family members were also present at that time.

Freelance photographer and filmmaker Monirul Haque traveled to different parts of India before returning to Bangladesh after finishing his post graduation from Sikkim University. He sat in Nizamuddin's dargah one evening in early September. At that time, suddenly hearing the word 'Bangladesh', he saw a person chanting the name of Bangladesh and praying. He immediately turned on the mobile camera and started making videos. Monirul gave that video to the media and described the time.

The prayer in the Urdu language of the video should be translated into Bengali, 'Give me the ability to send salam to Shamim Osman Sahib. Give success to Sheikh Hasina and give her luck to return to Bangladesh.'

Monirul Haque said that he was surprised to see Shamim Osman there. At that time Shamim Osman was accompanied by probably three other members of his family. Later he started following Shamim Osman. He saw Shamim Osman and his family members distributing tabarak at the food place next to the dargah. He even saw the one who was reciting the prayer give money.

Monirul claims that he once saw eye to eye with Shamim Osman. But there was no exchange of words. The Bangladeshi student also said that he was disappointed to see Shamim Osman.
