Jumbangla Desk: Acting Chairman of BNP Tarek Rahman said, 'We have gathered today in such an environment where no one is afraid. We come together to speak at the same time we listen to others. But just a few days ago, the people of this country could not speak regardless of party affiliation.

Tariq Rahman said, 'For the past 16 years, we could not even talk about our problems freely. The people of the country were fed up with the oppression of the previous fascist government. The rights of the people of Bangladesh were taken away, their rightful rights were taken away.'

He said these things in the speech of the chief guest, who participated virtually in the public meeting demanding justice for the murder of Sabbir and engineer Rakibul of Jhenaidah, who were killed in Dhaka during the fascist movement at Jhenaidah Payra Chatwar on Saturday.

Stating that only the government elected by the people can create a new trend for democracy and the development of the country, the Acting Chairman of BNP said, 'We had support and trust in this (interim) government even that day and we still have it today. But there is a but. But they have to take up the challenge of keeping our trust in them unquestioned.'

Tariq Rahman also said, 'If we fail to give dignity to the contribution of democracy-loving political parties, students, farmers, workers and people from all walks of life in this great period of the fall of dictatorship, the contribution of the people who have been disappeared, murdered, assaulted and tortured by the 16-year dictator Hasina. If we fail to acknowledge, then history will not forgive us.'

The top leader of BNP said, 'There are many leaders and workers of the nationalist party in Jhenaidah district whom we have lost. We have lost many leaders and activists including Mirazul Islam Mirza, Dulal and Palash. Despite the fall of the fascist government, the people of this district gave fresh blood to Sabbir and engineer Rakibul Buk. The people of the country overthrew the dictatorial Sheikh Hasina government on August 5. In the face of the people's movement, the dictatorship that was sitting on the chest of the people, that dictatorship has been forced to flee. This achievement is the achievement of people from all walks of life in Bangladesh. Today, when the dictatorship has fled, the people of the country demanded a non-partisan caretaker government to fill the void created in the establishment of the rights of the people of the country.

Tariq Rahman also said, 'The people who went to the movement in July-August in the last 16 years, the people who destroyed everything and freed the country from dictatorship, who fought for our future generation by risking their lives, this sacrifice will be successful only on the day when the people of this country will be elected. They will get back their political and democratic rights. On that day, the people of Bangladesh will achieve economic liberation. On that day, the martyrs of our movement, the martyrs of 71 and those who were martyred in the movement for the restoration of democracy and those who were tortured in various ways, will be successful.

'Today we have to take that pledge, to bring Bangladesh back to a normal stage. What the people of the country expect. They expect security of their lives regardless of party affiliation. Every child, every student wants the guarantee of safety and education, every farmer wants the recognition of their contribution, all these things must be gradually established through the formation of the government," said Tariq Rahman.

Expressing his gratitude to the people of Jhenaidah for listening to the speech despite the inclement weather, Tariq Rahman said, 'Come, we have brought down the dictatorship by protesting and struggling. We work to fulfill people's expectations. Let us unite to build a happy and prosperous Bangladesh without discrimination.'

Acting Chairman of BNP joined the rally virtually in the afternoon. In the 11-minute speech, he highlighted the expectations of the future of Bangladesh and the aspirations of the people.

After 16 years, on this day, the mass meeting organized by BNP in Jhenaidah district turned into a mass explosion. In every street of the district city, in the street, in the alleys of the neighborhood-mahalla, people came.
