The World Heart Federation in association with the World Health Organization announced the observance of 'World Heart Day' on 29 September every year since 1999. This year's theme of the day is 'Use Heart for Action'. The day is observed to raise awareness for prevention of heart disease. According to experts, 17 percent of those dying from various diseases had some form of heart disease. And one in five young people in Bangladesh is at risk of heart disease.

Around 18 million lives are lost each year due to heart disease and stroke worldwide. Most of which can be prevented only through health awareness. Therefore, experts emphasize on healthy living and preventive hygiene to keep the heart healthy. Because research shows that 3.8 million men and 3.4 million women die of heart disease every year in the world, one in four of them die from coronary heart disease or ischemic heart disease, which is mainly the result of atherosclerosis.


The study also says that by 2025, mortality from non-communicable diseases will increase by 25 percent worldwide. Non-communicable diseases include heart disease, stroke and diabetes caused by high blood pressure. For this, the World Heart Federation conducts various activities in addition to increasing public awareness worldwide.


Nowadays people are suffering from various diseases and problems at a young age. Heart-related problems have become very common these days. Even young people are suffering from heart attacks. Mainly age, high blood pressure problem, high cholesterol level, excess fat, unhealthy diet, alcoholism, stress are responsible for heart attack.

How to avoid the risk of heart attack

Experts say that those suffering from high blood pressure, unhealthy blood cholesterol, diabetes and obesity are also at higher risk of heart attack. A healthy lifestyle is most important to avoid heart attack, weight should be controlled, cholesterol should be kept at a tolerable level. For this you have to do regular yoga and some cardio activities. In addition, you should quit smoking, avoid excessive fatty foods and eat less salt, exercise regularly, and do normal physical activity.
