Jaria Water Development Board's flood control embankment has broken. The houses and roads of Kansa Para have been submerged. The railway line has also sunk. Almost half a lakh people of Durgapur, Purbadhala and Kalmakanda Sadar have become waterlogged.

The flood control embankment of the Water Development Board is under threat as water gushed over the Kalidas dam in Naterkona village in Purbadhala upazila from Sunday (October 6) morning. From noon, members of 26 Ansar Battalion tried to protect the embankment by cutting earth and filling it with bags with the help of locals.

Meanwhile, the people of the areas where the water is trapped, the furniture is brought to the road on the embankment. People fight for safe shelter without eating and drinking all day long. But the end was not saved in the evening. Kansar water breaks the dam and submerges large cropland.

It is known that the members of Ansar are cooking egg khichuri and delivering it to the families whose homes are waterlogged in Naterkona village. However, many people are angry because the local administration did not investigate.

A resident named Khodeja Akhtar said that he tried to save the furniture all day. No food in the stomach. He is now eating mudri due to stomach ache. But in the evening, the embankment broke and all the hard work of the day went in vain. This is not his only situation, almost everyone is in this situation.
