Jumbangla Desk: The government has formed a special task force to control the prices of daily necessities. This special task force has been formed at the district level to monitor and review the market situation and supply chain.

A notification in this regard has been issued by the Ministry of Commerce on Monday (07 October).

Additional Deputy Commissioner will be the convener of this special task force. And Assistant Director of National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate will serve as member secretary. The members will be Additional Superintendent of Police, District Food Controller or appropriate representative, District Livestock Officer or appropriate representative, District Fisheries Officer or appropriate representative, Agricultural Marketing Officer or Senior Agricultural Marketing Officer, CAB representative and two student representatives.

According to the notification, this task force will regularly conduct on-the-ground inspections of various markets, large warehouses/godowns/cold storage and other places in the supply chain and will monitor the fact that prices of essential commodities are kept at a reasonable level. Apart from this, the task force will ensure that price differentials between the production, wholesale and consumer levels are kept to a minimum and hold consultation meetings with stakeholders.

After daily monitoring, the task force will send a report to the Commodity Price Review and Forecast Cell of the Ministry of Commerce and the Central Control Room of the National Directorate of Consumer Protection. The National Consumer Protection Directorate will compile and review the reports received from various districts and submit a report to the Ministry of Commerce by 7 pm every day.

Earlier on October 6, Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, Advisor on Youth and Sports and Labor and Employment of the Interim Government, said in his Facebook status that even after making many products duty free, there was no impact on the market due to the violence of the syndicate. For this reason, the process of forming a task force for market monitoring is going on. The task force will enter the field soon.
