Flood in Sherpur

On Tuesday (October 8) on the ground in Jhenaigati, Nalitabari, Srivardi upazila, it can be seen that the flood situation has improved somewhat as the water level has started to decrease. However, people's suffering did not decrease. More than one and a half lakh people in 5 upazilas of the district are stuck in water. The upstream water flows downstream in various rivers. Thousands of people left their homes and came to shelters. They are in dire need of food and clean water.


People coming to the shelter say that the fish in the pond have been washed away by the flood water. Thousands of hectares of Aman rice fields have been submerged.


In this regard, the report given by the Flood Forecasting and Warning Center has informed that the water level of the rivers Kansa, Jinjiram, Someshwari and Old Brahmaputra in Mymensingh division is increasing. Bhogai river water is stable. Bhogai river in Sherpur district, Nakuagaon and Jinjiram river in Jamalpur district flow over the boundary at Goalkanda point.


It is known that the flood situation has further deteriorated in Netrakona. Even though the water of Someswari river has decreased, the water of Ubdakhali river is flowing 29 cm above the danger level. The water of Kangsa river has also increased. It is flooding new areas.

 

More than 150 villages of 5 upazilas including Durgapur, Kalmakanda are waterlogged. Hundreds of thousands of people are stuck in the corner of their eyes. Crop fields and fish enclosures were swept away by the water.
