Jumbangla Desk: The Ministry of Commerce has allowed seven companies of the country to import 4.5 million pieces of eggs to keep the market price stable.
Internal Trade-1 Branch of the Ministry of Commerce informed this information in a circular on Tuesday (October 8).
According to the notification, according to the information of the Directorate of Livestock, there is a daily demand of about 5 crore pieces of eggs in the country. At present, this import permission has been allowed for a limited period of time considering the market situation of eggs and to keep the market price stable. It is also said that among the institutions, M/s Mim Enterprises of Dhaka's Dakshin Jatrabari got one crore pieces, Messrs. Taosin Traders of Jessore Chowrasta intersection got one crore pieces, Messrs. Sumon Traders of Lobsha area of Satkhira got two million pieces, Alif Traders of Bhagi area of Rangpur got three million pieces, Himalaya of Motijheel commercial area of the capital. One crore pieces, M/s Prime Care Bangladesh of Shantinagar 50 lakh pieces and M/s Zaman Traders of Tejkunipara have been allowed to import 50 lakh pieces of eggs.
Conditions under which eggs can be imported: (a) Zoning/compartmentalization certificate/declaration must be submitted by the Competent Authority of the exporting country in favor of bird flu free zoning/compartmentalization as per the guidelines of The World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH);
(b) each consignment of imported eggs shall be furnished with a certificate of freedom from avian influenza or bird flu virus and harmful bacteria issued by the competent authority designated/authorized by the Government of the exporting country;
(c) to comply with the payment of net-tax and other regulations prescribed by the Government;
(d) Importation of eggs shall be notified to the relevant quarantine officer at least 15 (fifteen) days prior to shipment;
A progress report must be submitted to the Ministry of Commerce after 7 days of receiving the import permit.
