Bangladeshi Maimuna in International Quran Competition in Malaysia

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim inaugurated the Quran competition organized by Islamic Development at the World Trade Center in the capital Kuala Lumpur on October 5.

It is known that the first winner of the 64th International Al-Quran Recitation and Recitation category will receive a prize worth 52,000 ringgit. In addition, the champions of the Qur'an recitation and Hefz categories will each receive a gold medal worth 12,000 ringgit from Yasan Pembangunan Economy Malaysia and 40,000 ringgit in cash from the government.

The runner-up in both categories will receive 30,000 ringgit and a gold medal worth 12,000 ringgit by Yasan Pembangunan Economy Malaysia. The third place winner will receive 20,000 ringgit and a gold medal from Yasan Pembangunan Economy Malaysia, while all winners will receive prizes, certificates of participation and souvenirs, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Office (Religious Affairs) Datuk Mohd Naeem Mokhtar.

Hafez Maimuna is the daughter of Qatar expatriate Imam Qari Moniruzzaman Sharif of Mymensingh district. She is a student of Sauda Binte Jama'ah (RA) Hefz Madrasah in the capital. Earlier, Hafeza Maimna Moniruzzaman won the third place in the International Hefzul Quran Competition held in Iran in February this year. Apart from this, Hafeza Maimuna participated in the Arabic Quran Competition in Dubai in September this year.

Hafeza Maimuna's father Imam Qari Moniruzzaman Sharif, expatriate of Qatar, said that my daughter's audition was on October 7. Alhamdulillah he is doing well. I am hopeful that Maimuna will bring honor to the country. I ask the countrymen and expatriates of Malaysia to pray for Maimuna.

92 contestants from 71 countries including Bangladesh participated in this international Quran competition. 39 people in Hifz category and 53 people in Tilawat category participated in these two categories.

On October 12, the country's King Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim and Queen Permaisuri Agong Raja Zarith Sophia will distribute prizes to the winners of the competition.
